Luxury holiday cottage set in a courtyard setting with private parking in the village of Kealkill. TLC is present throughout the cottage since the owners also vacation here. The village itself has a shop, post office, two pubs, and a Catholic Church. On the outskirts of the village is a stone circle where the scenery is breathtaking. Kealkill is situated between the famous towns of Bantry and Glengarriff, approximately 10 minutes drive in either direction. The area surrounding the village is ideal for golfing, hiking, cycling, touring, photography, river and deep sea fishing. Bantry has an 18-hole golf course and other championship courses such as Waterville, Killarney and Ballybunion are nearby. Sheeps Head Way is ideal for hiking the rugged cliffs along the coast. Bantry House which is open to the public has an exhibition of the 1796 ill-fated French Armada landing. Bantry House has a collection of art treasures, and the gardens contain sub-tropical shrubs and trees. Bantry and Glengarriff towns bath have an array of craft stores, pubs and restaurants. Glengarriff is the gateway to Garnish Island which is a sub-tropical island. Seals can be spotted on boat rides to the Island. Nearby Glengarriff is an ancient glacial valley which is now a nature reserve and the home to a wide variety of birds, animals and plants. There are 70km of marked trails within the reserve and for the enthusiasts the Beara Way walking trail is 200km with magnificent mountain and sea views. The Glengarriff Bamboo Park has 13 mysterious stone pillars. Several species of bamboo and palm trees can be found within the park. Weather in this part of Ireland is milder then the rest of Ireland since it has the influence of the Gulf Stream, thereby promoting the tropical vegetation to this part of Ireland.
