Quiet rural location on the Ring of Kerry with extensive views of the Atlantic Ocean and Valentia Island. Close to beaches - golf courses - horse riding. Childrens play area - private walking routes - hillwalking. Boat trips to the Skellig Islands from nearby Portmagee - sea fishing trips - lake fishing.
Cahersiveen is a small town with some excellent restaurants specialising in locally caught fish, Kerry lamb and tender steaks. For supplies there are a number of good supermarkets, as well as galleries and gift shops. Colourful fairdays or market days are still held on the streets where visitors, locals, young and old meet and chat. Many of the pubs provide bar food and present traditional Irish music nights, but if you prefer there is always a quiet corner to be found. There are a number of ancient heritage sites nearby, and in the town, a Heritage centre, in the old Royal Irish Constabulary Barracks, is a must see. Ireland's most famous son, The Liberator Daniel O' Connnell, was born at Carhen just outside Cahersiveen.
