Ireland's weather can best be described as temperate and changeable. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, Ireland does not suffer the extreme temperatures of mainland Europe and summers are often a pleasant experience. However, visitors should always pack a lightweight waterproof jacket as a rain shower may be just around the corner. In the southwest, it rarely freezes or snows and in a good year golf may be played at all year round.
